About Pembrokeshire Agricultural Society
Pembrokeshire Agricultural Society, which recently celebrated its 225th anniversary, is an organisation of like-minded individuals who support and promote Agriculture and land-based industry here in Pembrokeshire. A registered charity (no. 516729) with hundreds of members across the county, we are proud to be able to support Pembrokeshire’s community through a range of activities and events throughout the year, culminating in the annual 3-day county show, held at the County Showground in Haverfordwest. The county show attracts more than 100,000 visitors annually and is now the largest of its kind in Wales.
Objectives and activities
The Society’s objective is the improvement and encouragement of agriculture. In particular
- The holding of shows for the exhibition of livestock, farm produce, horticulture and for the demonstration or exhibition of agriculture methods and processes, machinery and other appliances.
- The improvement of livestock, the advancement of breeding and the prevention and eradication of animal diseases.
- The advancement of science and research in connection with machinery and equipment.
- The holding of demonstrations and lectures on modern agricultural methods and processes.
Governance & management
The Society is run by an executive committee and a small team of staff based at the Showground. They are responsible for a whole range of activities including the organisation of the County Show and managing the Society’s estate.
