The General Manager has presented to The Executive the strategy required to move forward over the next 10 years. The key objectives are:

• To prioritise projects and set financial goals
• To reinforce the aims of the business to The Executive Committee
• To secure the Human and Financial Resource to match future requirements of
• To continue to work in the community and encourage access to The Society’s facilities.

A small team has been selected by The Manager to work on the current Development Plan which to be successful will help us create a sound basis of what our requirements are for a first rate showground and also to chart our growth. The team will present their report to The Executive in November 2007 highlighting corporate values fostering a climate of innovation that operates at the highest standards with customers, suppliers and the community.

The County Showground is home to many attractions bringing thousands of people to the site. The South West Youth Festival where 2000 children gathered for a fun packed day of entertainment and study and The Race for Life a fund raising event for The British Heart Foundation were just two events that brought people to our showground. The Pavilion hosted birthday parties and wedding receptions and had over 11,000 people through its front door while The Parkhouse had approximately 12,000. The Sunday Market had 120,000 and The County Show 100,000. The promotion of these numbers through our Sponsorship Committee must prove an excellent opportunity in furthering sponsorship packages.

The Show is staffed mainly with volunteers or stewards. The stewards look after many different sections such as cattle, sheep, pigs, horses, show jumping and many other activities. The show demonstrates many types of agricultural appliances and systems that are continually improving year by year and to see these in action or handling them for real come to the show and see them all on display.
